I was laying in bed last night with my boys and started thinking how I am the luckiest person in the world. How did I get so lucky to have been blesses with the "job" of raising two amazing kids. I can't even start to describe the love I have for them. They make it so meaningful and rewarding to be there for them. Plus the perks aren't so bad
1) they are all mine ( hey I grew them for 9 months and gave birth to them I earned it)
2) I can eat all " their" snacks
3) I can get as many late night cuddles and kisses in as I want ( and not have to worry about the walk of shame in the am)
4) I get to be their superhero and their biggest fan
5) I have the magical kisses they fix all their "boo boo's)
6) I get to learn from them and be a child again
7) I have non stop entertainment and laughter
I could go on and on but one thig I know is I do have the best job in the world

Excuse me stranger you are in my child's personal bubble
Other mom's out there you know who I am talking about. You are walking around the grocery store minding your own business knowing every extra minute in the store is asking for a tantrum and you spot them. The stranger lurking at your stroller. You quickly dash down the next isle and you look up only to see them inching forward. You know you are stuck. You can see in their eyes that they think they have struck gold. So begins the touching and loving of your baby.... Or even the kiss on the hands or face. Now I have no problem showing off my kids.. Heck I think they are the cutest things around ( I may be a bit bias) but really do you need to be on top of them ?
Now I have learnt a few tricks
1) put a blanket over the car seat if you have one, pretend they are asleep
2) grab your phone pretend that you just got the most important call ad politely excuses yourself
Or
3) in a calm voice tell them they just got over the flu..
Hopefully this will help!

The sweet victory of bedtime
Now don't get me wrong I love spending all the time in the world with my kids but there is something to be said for the excitement I get when that clock hits 730. I don't know about the other families out there but from 5-730 at our house we might as well charge admission for a circus. Between trying to make and feed dinner for the two boys which is typically a challenge for our 3 year old as he has inherited my super picky eating habits,Taking a bathtub, pjs , teeth brushed, books and some snuggle time in it can get a little hairy. I have learnt a trick with the baby.. Get some cereal into him about 20-30 mins before bedtime and he normally goes on tilt with just half a bottle and rocking. Thank goodness he is now rocking a solid 5 hr sleep in his crib before I hear from him again. The bigger challenge is the 3 year old. He is now in his "big boy bed" and is going through being scared of the dark. His routine is leaving the ensuite bathroom light on and door open.. No big deal. The problem now is that he has figured out that if he needs to pee or needs a snack he can push back bedtime. I think last night we were up to bathroom trip number 9 in 45 mins and no pee that I finally but the kaboosh on the idea. I finally realized my 3 year old had outsmarted me. Shoot!
But when I finally hear the snoring from both rooms I do a little victory dance! Try and enjoy some down time and of course get in some sleep before the baby wakes up.
I have a confession though.. I never go to bed without sneaking into the boy's room and stealing a kiss and staring at them sleeping.. There is something to be said about a sleeping child it truly melts my heart

The art of potty training..
Figured my first "real post" should be on potty training seeing as we are literally and unfortunately sometimes figuratively hands deep in this art with our three year old..
Here are a couple of things I have noticed since we started :
1) the more I remind him to go to the potty the more it is an invitation to wait and let it out in the pants
2) I should have taken stocks out on toilet paper, I didn't realize how entertaining it is to flush and flush and flush toilet paper down the toilet
3) be patient, he won't be going to college in diapers.... Right??
Needless to say it has been quiet the ride.. And to be fair most days he has got it figured it. Throughout my husband and I have had some good laughs at this experience ( that is what life is about ).. For example Yesterday he came home from preschool and of course wanted his pants off. I quickly glanced over while prepping dinner and noticed that he must not have worn his underwear home. I asked him where it was.. His reply was lifting his shirt and showing me that he was in fact wearing it,not so much as the way it should be worn but with both legs through one hole and pulled right up over his bum like a belt.. In my mind it kinda defeated the purpose of wearing underwear but hey maybe I have it wrong he looked pretty comfy and proud.
Knock on wood we have been accident free in 3 days now! SCORE!
Hopefully the worst is behind us and boy have we learnt a lot .. Cheers to getting to do it all over again in 2 years !
I have to confess though the look of pride when he gets to the toilet in time makes it all worth it. And yes we did the whole reward system seemed to work for us in this house .

Here we go!
So here goes nothing! Was motivated to create a blog through one of my closest friends. Thought it would be a nice way to try and connect with more people while telling my story of raising my family.
A little about me. I have been married for a little over two years and have two young boys (3 and 6 months) not to forget our furry friend either .. Yes he is male too. That makes 4 boys and me. Needless to say their is a lot of pee, dirt, trucks and naked men running around my house.
I was born and raised in Calgary moving to a small town outside of Halifax 3 1/2 years ago. It was a huge adjustment which also means raising my kids away from my family. Don't worry though I do get lots of visits .. Which are always very welcome !
I recently started taking my yoga teacher training and have found yoga to be a huge blessing in my life.
I look forward to sharing my stories with everyone! Hope you enjoy the ride!
